“Befikre” as the name suggests is about promiscuity, but it could also have an element of thrill and suspense. You can call the film a cross between “No Strings Attached” and the mega serial “Love Me If You Dare.” Yash Raj Films has been teasing the audience with endless pictures of Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor kissing; the rushes are finally out, on October 11,2016.The full-length trailer for the flick from Aditya Chopra hints that it is a romantic thriller set in Paris.
The trailer was shown to a select audience near the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and the distinguished guests included Anne Hidalgo, the city mayor. Ranveer, Vaani, and Anne all three addressed the press and an august group of VIP’s who were invited to the event. Aditya Chopra is known to be very reserved and rarely mingled with media, stayed away from the event.
Looking at the trailer one can feel the sizzling chemistry between Vaani and Ranveer. The undercurrent of sexuality is predominant in every scene in the trailer. But what seems to bother is the story which looks like a derivative umpteenth number of flicks where the protagonists believe in choosing sex instead of the collective melting of hearts.
We have seen this topic being delved in Bollywood before e.g. in the flick “Life in a Metro” where KK Menon and Kangana Ranaut share a relationship without any strings attached. It is a huge metamorphosis for Aditya Chopra who had made “Dil Waale Dulhania Le Jayenge” which talked about strict family values to the present movie which talks about relationships in the 21st century and sexually liberated characters who have no whims in accepting their sexual needs as something in their daily routine.
The last film which was directed by Aditya Chopra was the Sha Rukh Khan starrer, “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi” and it needs to be seen how Aditya Chopra has handled the taboo subject.
