Chinese smartphone manufacturer company Alcatel recently targeted to achieve $10 million revenue from Tablet PC business. The main goal of this strategy is to capture the 10 percent of market share by this year in the segment of tablet PC.

Reportedly, Alcatel has launched three models of tablet PC. The latest launch by this Smartphone giant is “A3 10”. By launching the tablet PCs, Alcatel wants to compete with the tablet segment manufactures like Datawind, Micromax or Samsung which already launched their tablets in the market.

Research conducted by CMR, the sales of the tablet in India has a declined by 16 percent per year. It’s around 7.6 lakhs unit in January to March 2017 quarter. If we compare it to the last year’s October to December quarter, the declination is almost 6 percent. Same goes for the global market as well. The tablet sale has declined by 8.5 percent as the consumers are more interested in the smartphone.

Datawind is the clear winner in this battle and it holds the top spot with 34 percent of the market share. iBall is in the second position with 16 percent of the market share. The tech giant Samsung gathered 15 percent of the share and Micromax has managed to get 8 percent of the total market share.

The regional director of Alcatel India, Mr. Praveen Valecha told “The tablet PC market has shrunk mainly because there were no major devices in the Indian market. Also, many low- value tabs spoilt customer experience. Besides, there were factors like demonetization and GST. But, we expect the market to revive by Diwali.” He also added that the company is planning to launch two new tablet segment of devices in the Indian market soon.

The latest tablet PC by Alcatel – A3 10 is launched in India at a price of Rs. 9,999. This device sports a 10- inch display. There is a 1.1 GHz Quad – Core processor and 2 GB RAM to power the device. The internal storage is 16GB which can further be expanded up to 128 GB with a micro SD card. For the camera department, this tablet PC is equipped with a 5MP rear and a 2MP front camera. There is also a 4600 mAh battery under the hood to ensure a long battery life.
