India’s most successful captain and current limited over captain will be seen in action after two and half month. He is not seen in action after very long with apparently no international game time in sight.

India will start the first ODI campaign in Pune on 15th January. Dhoni played last international match against New Zealand at Visakhapatnam on October 29. He is supposed to be in action after two and half months.

It was a protocol to play at least one first- class game for injured players before considered for national selection. But the same will not be applicable for Dhoni because he has already announced his retirement from longer format.

Earlier Dhoni prepared for Vijay Hazare Trophy for Jharkhand for the limited-overs tour of Australia in 2015. However, this edition of Vijay Hazare Trophy will be scheduled from February 25, around four weeks after the England ODI series.

Many ODI specialist is already playing the Ranji Trophy for their respective states. But Dhoni is yet to avail that option.

BCCI bars the players to participate in other private leagues, so it is not possible for limited over Indian captain to participate in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) match.

However, Jharkhand has already qualified for the knockout stage of the Ranji Trophi game. But Dhoni has not given any indication that he would play in that game as a pure batsman with Ishan Kishan keeping wickets.

Chairman of selector Mr. MSK Prasad told today that there is no information that Dhoni will take part in the Ranji Trophy knockout match. However, he is doing the regular training with the Jharkhand team.

Jharkhand State Cricket Association Secretary Rajesh Verma quoted that Dhoni is the mentor of the senior state team. As Dhoni  is no longer available for the longer version of the game so the question of playing first-class cricket does not arise at all.
