Amir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan to star in ‘Thugs of Hindostan!

In a pleasantly shocking tweet, Aamir Khan announced that he is going to be the co-star of the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, in their upcoming film ‘Thugs of Hindostan.’

The film is going to be made under the banner of Yash Raj Films and it is going to be directed by Dhoom 3 writer and director,Vijay Krishna Acharya. He will also perform both the tasks for this one. The film starts shooting ëarly next year”and the expected release date of the film is somewhere around Diwali of 2018.

Popularly known as Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan used to act in one film per year. However, recent times have seen an entirely different story. His next film Dangal is reportedly about to enter the post-production phase and is one of the most anticipated films of the year.

The next film “Thugs of Hindostan” will be released two years after this one. This clearly shows the amount of work that is going to be put in this film, and fans expect that two of the most enigmatic personalities in B-town work their charm.

The IMDB listing says that the story is an adaptation of the best-selling novel ‘Confessions of a Thug’ written by Philip Meadows Taylor.

The story will be based in a pre-independence period.

The story is about Sayeed Amir Ali aka Feringhea who was a thug who murdered travelers for money. Originally published in 1839, this book is based in the year 1832.

Such adaptations have been a rarity in Bollywood, but recent times have seen a rise in this count. With patriots images adapted on the screen by the likes of Akshay Kumar and Amir Khan, and movies like Gangs of Wasseypur and Gulal generating overwhelming interest, the film industry in the country is experiencing a major turnaround.

Cliched love stories and family dramas may well be a thing of the past now. Directors like Anurag Kashyap, have been contributing majorly towards revolutionising the industry that is laden with a cultural burden of satisfying a cliche-loving audience.

In a population of almost 1.5 billion, the reach of the industry could be wider, and that does not mean only adapting from South Indian films.
