India Yamaha Limited has launched another flagship model Yamaha YZF-R1 in the country. The company has touted that the new model possesses many upgrades and tech improvements as compared with the old model. The price tag of this new sports bike is Rs 20.73 lakh. Here, it is important to mention that this new model YZF-R1 will arrive in the country as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) like an earlier model. There will be two color options available for the customers to choose, the Tech Black and Yamaha Blue.
This new Yamaha YZF-R1 does not have any visual change. The overall design is same as YZR-M1, a Moto GP bike. It has the same 998cc cross-plane, four-cylinder, four valve engine. The new model Yamaha YZF-R1 also has some upgrades over earlier models. The first and the most important one is the Quick Shift System (QSS). This means that the rider can easily shift between the gears without using the clutch.
The company has also introduced a new lift control system through the use of 6-axis ECU. This enables the bike to deliver adequate power to the rear wheel. This new Yamaha YZF-R1 possesses higher compression ratio than older models. The compression ratio is 01:01 per cylinder head. It comes with titanium con rods and forged aluminum pistons. The central air inlet has 10.5-inch large airbox. The rider can control this air feeding through Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake. This mechanism increases the power of the bike.
This new Yamaha YZF-R1 has anti-lock braking system (ABS). The braking system of the bike consists of dual 320mm disc brakes at the front and a single 220mm disc brake at the rear.
Commenting on the launch, the Senior Vice President India Yamaha Limited says that this new model will strengthen the company’s Superbike segment in the country. He also says that this new Yamaha YZF-R1 has the same racing technology like YZR-M1 along with improved aerodynamics. This brings it a lot closer to a Moto GP bike.
