The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi hosted an event for celebrating its 8TH anniversary on Thursday. The company had announced a bunch of devices on this event. The Xiaomi Mi 8 was the most awaited and anticipated device of the event. This is because it is the company’s latest flagship after Mi Mix 2S. Mi 8 comes with a lot of peculiar features. Some of these are infrared face unlock, Snapdragon 845 SoC, Dual rear cameras, and a 20MP selfie camera. The company has launched three variants of the device. The Mi 8 with 6GB/64GB comes with CNY 2699 (Rs 28,600) price tag. The device with 6GB/128GB storage carries the price tag of CNY 2999 (Rs 31,600). The third variant with 6GB/256GB storage comes with CNY 3299 (Rs 34,800) price tag. The company has also launched Mi 8 Explorer Edition with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It carries a price tag of CNY 3699 (Rs.39,000). Preorders for all these devices have started while the delivery will start from June 5.

The detailed specifications of the Mi 8 show that the device comes with 6.21-inch Full HD+ Display with 1080X2248 pixels. The device features an aspect ratio of 18.7:9 has about 88.5% screen to body ratio. It also features an always-on display. The device also features Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip Snapdragon 845 SoC. The company claims that the device has An Tu Tu score of 301,472. There are two RAM options in the device 6GB LPDDR4X and 8GB LPDDR4X. The 8GB LPDDR4X is exclusive to the Explorer Edition. There are three variants of the device with different internal storage options, the 64GB, the 128GB, and the 256GB.

Xiaomi has also improved the photography features of the device by embedding various AI features in the device. Mi 8 comes with dual rear cameras set up. There are two 12MP sensors with 1.4-micron pixels, 4-axis OIS, dual-pixel autofocus, AI portrait, AI scene detection, and much more. The company claims that DXO Mark photo score of the device is 105. On the front, the device features a 20MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and many AI features for beautiful selfies.

The device also comes loaded with a lot of connectivity features. Dual SIM connectivity, 4G LTE with VoLTE, Dual-band WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS featuring L1/L5 signal support, USB Type-C and much more. The company has placed fingerprint scanner on the back. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Mi 8 features a 3400mAh battery while Mi 8 Explorer Edition has 3000mAh battery. Both the devices support Quick Charge 4.0 technology. The device runs Android 8.0 Oreo with Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 out of the box.
