Jaipur: After defeating the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in the 2013 elections, Vasundhara Raje made an impressive comeback after facing ill luck in 2008. Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2013 polls won 163 out of the 200 Assembly seats which made Rajasthan painted up in saffron in the year.

The reason for BJP’s victory in the year 2013 was taken up as anti-incumbency and the “Modi wave”. The elections which made BJP grab a stupendous win took place a few months ahead of 2014 General Elections.

Raje participated in the 2013 elections from Bhartiya Janta Party in order to fight poverty, corruption, poor governance, price rise and worsening law and order situation in the state. The victory in 2013 that BJP managed to grab was a noticeable one as Congress managed to get only 21 seats and others got just 16.

Congress for sure face ill luck at that time as most of the key faces of Congress lost in the 2013 elections. The key faces include Bina Kak, Jitendra Singh, Shanti Dhariwal, Hema Ram and speaker Deependra Singh Shekhawat. Besides this, the voters were also disturbed as the names of few senior Congress leaders came up regarding their involvement in certain cases of sexual misconduct.

The party had given tickets to the kin of two ministers and an MLA, each of whom was imprisoned in separate cases of rape and murder. All of them had faced defeats.

After facing a shocking defeat, the then Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot alleged Bhartiya Janta Party of running a negative campaign to win votes.

BJP is looking forward to having a second consecutive term in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Elections 2018. The Assembly elections in the state are scheduled for December 7, 2018, and the result for the same will come on December 11.
