New Delhi: On Wednesday evening, The United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Delhi. In order to receive the United States Secretary, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj reached the Palam airport. Pompeo who is accompanied with US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis is on a visit to India in order to attend 2+2 dialogue which will be held on September 6.
As per the sources, a discussion will be held between the two nations in order to increase the interaction between the Indian Army and the Central Command of the US.
Besides this, the issues such as India buying Russian missile defense systems and Iranian oil exports to the country will also be discussed by the delegation. however, “these issues will not be prioritized,” Pompeo asserted.
The United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo revealed that he and James Mattis, US Defence Secretary are looking forward to the 2+2 talks. Apart from this, Pompeo called the 2+2 talks as “incredibly important meeting.”
Pompeo also said that India is the only designated defence partner and he added that the relationship between New Delhi and Washington are very good, which is pretty much necessary for the success of the Indo-Pacific strategy.
