After serving traditional watches, Titan is about to try its luck in the era of smartwatches. The company has partnered HP to launch smartwatch lineup in the market.
Titan announced that both of the companies will innovate design, custom technology and materials. They will target to the responsive products rather than the intrusive ones.
Commenting on the partnership, Titan Co said in a statement, “The range of smartwatches will be launched later this year in India and select international markets.” In addition, CEO of watches and accessories division of the company, S Ravi Kant claimed that their upcoming smartwatch would likely to generate a distinct lifestyle for the customers from India and around the world.
He further added that Titan Co is expecting that the new lineup of wearable gadgets might change the view of consumers in the way of timekeeping. He said, with the new smartwatch users can put “a drop-dead gorgeous watch on their wrist infused with ‘smart’ technology for a new era of access and connectivity.”
Besides this, S Ravi Kant, the HP Inc general manager, wearables and smart platforms Sridhar Solur has also reported that their forthcoming smartwatches will be a perfect blend of style and features, apart from the wearables that are currently available in the market, which are forcing the customers to sacrifice from the features and functions.
He said, “Our legacy of innovation is helping fashion-forward brands infuse technology into their designs to give consumers the stylish timepieces they want, but that are more connected and responsive to the way they live today.”
However, the technical specifications for the upcoming smart wearables from Titan in association with HP, are yet to be revealed.
Titan is a JV between the Tata Group and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) that has made its presence in watches, jewellery and eyewear. As per the stats, the firm has recorded an income of Rs. 11,791 crore, a growth of 9% over the previous fiscal year, 2014-15.
