On Friday, Sushma Swaraj External affairs minister and foreign minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi were photographed together. Both were captured together in the same photo frame for a group photograph described as an SCO’s family photograph at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meet. The meet was held in Dushanbe capital of Tajikistan.

Both the minister were standing at almost on the opposite ends in the group photograph which came after a very cold Saarc ministers meeting held in New York. The relation between the national capital and Islamabad continue to be tremendously stressed.

During the SCO meeting, Sushma Swaraj stressed on the subject of terrorism. She said that it is the most devastating risk to our common goals of development and success. She further added that governments must think about their responsibility towards their nation and cooperate with each other.

In the comments, it was clearly seen that Ms. Swaraj was referring to Pakistan for supporting terrorism and empowering them, because of which neighboring country India and Afghanistan are getting affected. Ms. Swaraj also emphasized India’s support for open and steady international trade practices which are based on the centrality of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

The SCO is associated with Central Asian Grouping that includes China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan. However, India and Pakistan became members of the community last year in 2017.

MEA Spokesperson Mr. Raveesh Kumar tweeted that in the Family photograph of “SCO— as they say, a picture speaks a thousand words @Sushma Swaraj with other leaders at #SCO Heads of Government Council Meeting in Dushanbe. The geographic area of SCO has been a motivation for physical, scientific, spiritual & cultural progress for the world.”

Mr. Swaraj said in her statement in the SCO Meet that Terrorism will always be the most devastating threat which restricts us to achieve our common goals of development and prosperity. As terrorism is growing to another level, governments must consider responsibility towards their nations and cooperate with each other.

She further added that we all have been profited from globalization. We must carry on developing our trade and investment cooperation. We must promote open, steady international trade practices which are based on the centrality of the World Trade Organisation.
