SC Justice DY Chandrachud passed an order which directed the law enforcement agencies to act strictly against Kanwariyas who spread violence and take the law into their hands.
The bench led by Justice DY Chandrachud passed this when Attorney General KK Venugopal raised the issue of violence and destruction done by the Kanwaryias in different areas.
A-G said that kanwariyas takes law in their hand and damage public properties over the slightest provocation. They even create the big threat to common people.
The A-G also highlighted the activities of Kanwariyas done across the country. He shared about the incident which occurred in Delhi and even about the road blocked by Kanwariyas on National Highway in Allahabad creating the traffic problem.
The A-G asked the SC judge to portray guidelines and rules for the protests and rallies by social and political outfits. He even urged for the rules and orders to curb the activities of Kanwariyas.
Delhi Police arrested a man who was from the group of Kanwariyas involved in the violent activity at Moti Nagar. The group of Kanwariyas attacked the car with sticks and iron rods after it brushed one of them. The Man and woman present inside the car managed to escape from the place. The group of 20 kanwaryias was recorded in the camera and the video of vandalism went viral on social media. They even tried to fire the car and hurt the couple who escaped at the nearby shop.
The Supreme court had allowed the Police officials to take actions against the Kanwariyas who get involved in anti-social activities.
Kanwariyas are young Hindus who collects water from the holy Ganga and carry it to their village for spilling the water over the shiv lingam during the auspicious month of Shravan. This ritual is especially followed in North India. This ritual had been followed by ancient days.
