After a number of leaks and rumors, finally, the day has arrived to know everything about Galaxy S8 and S8+. From today onwards, there will be no rumors, no more leaks and no more renders. Now you don’t have to waste your time guessing about the design and specs of these flagships. These are known as phones of the decade. In last ten years, Samsung had never launched such phones.

This launch event was very crucial for Samsung’s reputation.  After Note 7 disaster, this is the only chance to regain the customer’s confidence.

I’m sure now you can’t resist yourself from knowing its specs and design. Let me brief specs quickly.

Specs of Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung Galaxy S8 sports 5.8-inch display while its Plus version sports 6.2-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display. Galaxy S8 comes with 3,000 mAh battery while big brother Galaxy S8 Plus comes with 3,500 mAh battery power.

If we talk about the processor, Galaxy S8 will have 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset (2.3GHz Quad + 1.7GHz Quad) and Galaxy S8 Plus will have Snapdragon 835 (2.35GHz Quad + 1.9GHz Quad) in the US. However, the global versions will have its own Exynos 8895 SOC.

On the Storage front, both devices sport 64 GB internal storage and 4GB RAM. You can expand the memory up to 256 GB via microSD card.

On the software front, both run on pre-installed Android 7.0.  Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus sport 12 MP Dual Pixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and an f/1.7 aperture. For the selfie, both have an 8 MP camera with autofocus, featuring an f/1.7 aperture. They have got IP68 certification for water, and dust resistance.

Both support usual connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11/a/b/g, USB type –C, GPS and the latest Bluetooth 5.0.

Undoubtedly these phones are of the most stunning designs of all time. The dimensions of Galaxy S8 are 148.9 mm ×68.1 mm ×8.0 mm and weighs 155 gm. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S8+ weighs 173g and dimensions are 159.5 mm ×75.4 mm ×8.1mm.

Samsung’s new flagships are an evolution of the design. Both look unbelievable. Obviously, some similarities are there, but S8 and S8+ look brand new in the hand. This time the company has removed the oblong home button from the face of phones. This has created more space for display that occupies 83% of the phone’s faces. However, Samsung has added pressure sensitive home button behind the screen.

Like its previous phones, S7 Edge and Note 7, the sides of the phone are curved on the front as well as back. It really gives comfort when you held these devices in your hand. Thanks to curved LED edges.

Sensors

Both the smartphones will come with Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Fingerprint Sensor, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Iris Sensor, Barometer, Hall Sensor, Heart Rate Sensor, RGB Light Sensor and Pressure Sensor.

There are plenty of features to cover, but there are few main things that I want to touch in brief.

Its new desktop feature is awesome. It’s a multitasking phone and will replace the need for PC or Chromebook for many of us.

Bixby is another big highlight for these devices. Galaxy S8 comes with new smart digital assistance. This can identify the situation of your requests very easily. Let’s say you have taken snaps right now. You can ask Bixby to make the folder without telling it what pictures you want to store, as it will guess what pictures you want in this folder. This is really an amazing feature.

Galaxy S8 and S8+ price

In the UK the Galaxy S8 will be available at £689 and Galaxy S8+ will be priced at £779.

The devices will come in the market on April 21st. However, pre-order will open from tomorrow March 30th, at 12:01 AM in all major US carriers. The company has given three colors choices in the US: Black, Gray and Silver. The company has announced some free gifts for those who are pre-ordering. These gifts include next Generations Gear VR headset along with its new wireless remote and free Oculus game pack.
