Reliance Jio is one of the most renowned telecom companies in India. The company is going to hold an Annual General Meeting on July 21. There are rumors that there can be the announcement of a new feature phone from the company. The most remarkable aspect of the phone is its price which is as low as Rs. 500. The feature phone also has support for 4G VoLTE. The sole objective of the release of this feature phone is to bring more 2G customers of other networks to its 4G network. The company has already announced many cheap 4G packages. To attract the customers, the telecom giant has also announced the data plans on new SIM cards.

The HSBC report says that the 4G VoLTE feature phone will be available on subsidized price of about $10-15. There are also rumors that the company has already got orders of 18 to 20 million units from the Chinese companies. The shipment will start either at the end of July or at the beginning of August. The announcement of the feature device on 21 July suggests that the device is going to hit the markets on August 15. There are also expectations that the phone may come under Lyf Brand which is special to Reliance Jio.

In order to attract more users, the company is expected to announce more affordable data bundles. The new data plan may cost Rs. 80-90. Here, one thing is not clear whether the offer would be available for all 4G users of the Reliance Jio network or for customers purchasing 4G feature phone. The company has recently announced a new data package for its JioFi device.

The April figures show that the company has 112.55 million users on its network. The number will increase after the launch of this feature 4G phone. This is because millions of customers who cannot afford to buy a smartphone are likely to shift to Reliance Jio network to enjoy 4G at much lower costs.

The leaks show that the 4G VoLTE feature phone is coming in two variants. One variant will have a Qualcomm processor while the other will feature a Spreadtrum chip. Other features include a 2.4-inch display, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 2MP camera and a Micro SD card support. The device will also have VGA front camera, WIFI, GPS and NFC support.
