William Ray Norwood Jr., professionally known as Ray J, is an American singer, rapper, music maker, television host, and entrepreneur. Also known for Mars Attacks, Set It Off and Black Sash, he is an actor and filmmaker. His older sister is Brandy Norwood and his first cousin is Snoop Dogg.

He was born in McComb, Mississippi, and is the son of Willie Norwood and Sonja Norwood, and Brandy Norwood’s younger brother. He moved from McComb to Los Angeles with his family and then, at the age of nine, he started auditioning and acting in television advertisements for various companies in 1989.
