Indian Railways has firmed up plans to run special trains ‘Pravasi Bharti’ between Allahabad and Delhi to ferry delegates of the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas to the ‘Kumbh Mela’ during the time of Republic Day event in the capital. As per the sources, railways will convert all third AC coaches of special trains to second AC coaches in order to provide comfort to the delegates.
The 15th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas will be held in Varanasi from January 21 to 23, 2019 in PM Modi’s constituency. The Indians attending the event will get an opportunity for ‘Kumbh Snan’. The preparations have been made for the delegates at the Sangam river. The delegates interested to take holy bath in the river need to register on the website Pravasi Bhartiya Divas till 15th November.
Kumbh will take place from January 14th to March 4th, 2019 in Allahabad. Railways will ferry lakhs of people from across the country to take a holy dip. According to the website of Ministry of External Affairs, the date for the delegates to visit Kumbh is January 24th.
The government has instructed railways to activate its vast resources to carry up to 5000 people in trains, who will be in Prayagraj in Allahabad. As per the recent sources, officials of the national transporter have informed that there will be a heavy fog in peak winters during that time of Kumbh so it is certain that trains will be delayed on that route.
The shortest time between the two cities is approximately 630 kms and minimum time taken to reach Allahabad from New Delhi is 6 hours and 44 mins. Taking into consideration the number of pilgrims who will travel to Allahabad at that time, railways will increase the frequency of trains between the two cities.
The delegates will be accommodated at Prayagraj and IRCTC will provide complimentary dinner and breakfast to them. Preparations are going for the ‘mela’ regarding which Union and State governments have contributed a massive budget of 2,500 crores.
