The BJP had planned for the kickstart of the party campaign for Election 2019 in Gujrat with the PM’s visit on 23 August. The Prime Minister had planned to visit his home state on 23 August but it seems to be in perplexity now.
The Union govt has announced a state mourning period of seven days after the demise of former Prime Minister which makes the Gujarat visit dubious.
The Narendra Modi’s visit was already postponed ones and shifted from 20 July to 23 August due heavy rains in Saurashtra and South Gujarat.
The source from the party said “After Vajpayee ji’s death, uncertainty is prevailing over the visit. We are eagerly awaiting a message from the higher-ups about the visit so we can plan accordingly. However, there is no clarity on it so far.”
While an official of the state govt shared that they received no message for any visit in the state so far after the demise of the leader.
The PM visit was scheduled to address people at public functions in Junagadh, Gandhinagar and Valsad.
In function to be held at Valsad, Narendra Modi will dedicate 2 lakh houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He will even lay down the foundation stone for an irrigation project for the South Gujarat region.
Valsad Collector C R Kharsan shared the hope for the visit and said that the mourning would end on 22 August and the visit was scheduled for 23 August. Till now no intimation for the postpone or cancellation was received so we hope the event to take place on the same day as planned.
The hectic schedule of the Prime Minister includes a visit at Junagadh town in the Saurashtra region to inaugurate newly-built hospital of the Gujarat Medical and Education Research Society (GMERS) and some other development projects.
He will also inaugurate two fisheries science colleges at Veraval town. In the evening he will attend the convocation ceremony of the Gujarat Forensic Science University at Gandhinagar.
The Prime Minister will also manage time to address people in the function scheduled at the Police Training College ground near Junagadh
