Prime Minister Narendra shared the success story of Swaccha Bharat Mission and informed about the report released by World Health Organisation which told that almost 3 lakhs of minors had survived because of the toilet facilities provided under Swaccha Bharat Mission.

Mr Modi said, “Today, 90 per cent of Indians have toilet facility, which was only 40 per cent before 2014. Over 4.15 lakh villages, 430 districts, 2,800 towns, 19 states and Union Territories have been declared open defecation-free,” on his twitter handle.

Prime Minister shared that 90 per cent of Indians had accessibility to toilets as his govt had constructed 8.3 crore toilets since 2014 leading to make the country free of open defecation.

The Saffron party grabbed power in May 2014 and initiated the construction of the toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Mr Modi even invited the people to come together at 9.30 a.m. on September 15 to mark the commencement of the “Swachhata Hi Seva Movement”.

He even said that he would love to interact with those who had worked assiduously on the ground to strengthen the Swachh Bharat Mission. He praised the hard work of all the people who were involved in the swachhata mission.

Narendra Modi also thanked Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar who urged people to become part of the mission.

Mr Modi tweeted “Thank you Amitabh Bachchan Ji for inspiring others and expressing your participation in the Swachhata Hi Seva Movement.”

and in another tweet, he thanked Akshay Kumar for his contribution in Swachhata Mission.

“Dear Akshay Kumar, through your work you have made a fantastic effort to spread awareness on cleanliness. Your continued support to the Swachh Bharat Mission is gladdening.” Prime Minister tweeted.

Akshay Kumar has been an active part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, a drive which was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. The mission holds an ambition to encourage participation of countrymen to make India, a clean and open defecation free India by October 2, 2019.

The mission under the Modi’s guidance has changed India and saved the lives of many people.

The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Movement’ will begin on 15 September and conclude on 2 October.
