On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned in his speech on World Toilet Day about the increase in sanitation coverage in the country in the past four years. PM Modi conveyed that India is proud of the remarkable speed with which sanitation coverage has increased in the last four years.  Besides this, Modi even briefed about the commitment of his government to increase sanitation facilities in the country.

PM Modi while conveying about the sanitation schemes said that more than the government’s effort in making sanitation program a success, it is, in fact, a people’s movement which can make the drive for a cleaner India a successful one.

In order to thank women and youth for taking the lead in the sanitation drive on World Toilet Day, PM Modi posted on Twitter.

“Today, on World Toilet Day, we reiterate our commitment towards enhancing cleanliness and sanitation facilities across the nation. We in India take pride at the remarkable speed with which sanitation cover has increased in the last four years,” he wrote.

PM Modi also informed that 130 crore Indians participated in the sanitation program in order to make it a huge success. The 130 crore people included women and youths as a major part of the drive, they took the lead in the movement, Modi asserted

“I congratulate all those working to fulfil the dream of a Swachh Bharat,” he said.

World Toilet Day is celebrated on November 19. The day is about taking actions and making changes in the country to make sure that everyone has a safe toilet by 2030.
