The Shiv Sena supremo and BJP ally received a ‘thank you’ from Narendra Modi for supporting JDU-MP and NDA Candidate in Deputy Chairman Election of Rajya Sabha. The sources informed that the conversation lasted for one minute.
It was also reported that Amit Shah had met the Shiv Sena supremo in the month of June. Party president Amit Shah had even called Thackeray on 7th of August, just before the Deputy chairman election in Rajya Sabha and asked for support of the Janata Dal (United) leader Harivansh Narayan Singh. The NDA candidate won the election against UPA candidate with 125 ayes. The United Progressive Alliance Candidate secured only 105 Votes and lost the post.
The member of Rajya Sabha welcomed the result and congratulated newly elected deputy chairman.
On Thursday Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that Mr Shah had requested for the support in the deputy chairman election as they have three MP’s present in the Rajya Sabha. “We decided to vote for the JD(U) candidate because deputy chairman post it is a non-political post,” he added.
The Shiv Sena had mentioned BJP as “biggest political enemy” after it lost the elections held in the Palghar Lok Sabha Constituency. Both the parties were involved in the unfriendly campaign against each other in the constituency.
The Shiv Sena and BJP share a past in which they had a friendly relationship. The two parties were allies for over two-and-a-half decades. The ties between them ended before 2014 Maharashtra Assembly polls. The parties joined hands in the name Devendra Fadnavis to be Chief Minister of the state and form government.
The Support of Shiv Sena govt and then a warm phone call depicts that the relationship between the Sena and NDA might change in the future.
The 2019 elections are on the head and every party is constructing a strategy to achieve success in the coming election.
