A report says that the “real number” of victimized children and abusive priests can be seen on a higher note in the northeastern U.S. state, Pennsylvania. Priests, which are responsible and are considered as a religious leader to perform almost all sacred rituals of Islam religion are becoming a part of such wicked activities.
In Pennsylvania, there have been reported such dreadful cases that are the perfect example of the priests been using their power in a direction which should make them feel ashamed and hung themselves to death.
As per the reports, a 7-year-old girl who was admitted to the hospital regarding her tonsil removal surgery was visited by a priest. The priest during his visit raped the 7-year-old girl after she went through the surgery. Besides this, reports pointed out a similar case in which a 9-year-old boy was forced to have oral sex with a priest who was then given holy water to rinse his mouth.
Such activities and dreadful cases which are even hard to listen are adding up to reach the higher end in the northeastern U.S. state.
A report by Pennsylvania grand jury that got released on July 14 further added that until now, more than 1,000 children have been molested by approximately 300 Roman Catholic priests in Pennsylvania. The reports even pointed out and accused some of the senior church officials, one of them being archbishop of Washington DC who systematically covered such complaints in order to give a rise to the figures of such activities in the northeastern state.
“Despite some institutional reform, individual leaders of the church have largely escaped public accountability,” the grand jury wrote in the roughly 900-page report.
After summing up all the information and going through all the cases and incidents the grand jury concluded that after performing the dreadful incidents the top church officials were somehow protected and most of them have been promoted from their respective positions.”It is too early to close the book on the Catholic Church sex scandal.” the grand jury added.
Picking one of such cases grand jury mentioned that leader of the Washington Archdiocese, Cardinal Donald Wuerl was charged to protect some of the abusive priests when Wuerl was the bishop in the state from 1988 to 2006. However, Wuerl in his defence declared all the allegation as scrap. At a mass gathering on the feast of the Assumption of Mary in Washington, he asked the parishioners to have faith and confidence in the church against all the allegations and abuses.
As per some reports and research, until now, there have been nine investigations by a prosecutor or grand jury of a Catholic diocese or archdiocese in the US but in almost every case it is found that prosecutors were unable to file charges against any of the accused as more than 100 of the priests were dead while others were either retired from the priesthood or were on leave.
The panel headed by Attorney General Josh Shapiro reached a verdict that there were some Confidentiality Agreements that were being used by the church officials to Silence the Victims of the cases that were reported against the priests. These Confidentiality Agreements also made the church officials shield the church from bad publicity and financial liability.
“They failed to report accused clergy to police, used confidentiality agreements to silence victims and sent priests to “treatment facilities, which “laundered” the clergymen and permitted hundreds of known offenders to return to ministry,” the report said.
