PM Modi shared about the success and improvement in female sex ratio while speaking at the silver jubilee foundation day of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

He said that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign has helped in improving gender ratio in several states including Haryana and Rajasthan.

PM Modi said, “I can say with pride that with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign, there has been a rise in the number of girls (female ratio) in Haryana, Rajasthan and many other states. Many innocents have got rights. The meaning of life is not only to live but live with dignity.”

Mr Modi also focused on the measures taken by his government under his leadership and highlighted triple talaq and extension of maternity period leave. Mr Modi said that his government has ensured the rights of the citizens through laws and strengthen them.

He said that he was expecting triple talaq to be passed by the Parliament but the bill got stalled in Rajya Sabha whereas Lok Sabha had already passed it.

Stretching to the work done by his government, Mr Modi added that he protected the right of a newborn by extending maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks so that the little one can enjoy motherhood. Mr Modi concluded the step as “big step” saying that this is yet to happen several progressive countries.

The ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign was initiated by the Modi government to end up the female infanticide and promote girl child education in India.

Shifting his concern from female to health sector, Mr Modi shared about the Ayushmaan Bharat health insurance scheme ensuring that it would benefit maximum people under it. He even informed that 50,000 people have benefited within two and a half weeks of its launch.

Mr Modi even talked about the HIV patients and said that his government ensured that no such patient had to face discrimination in the country by making laws.

Adding one more to his achievement list, Mr Modi said that ‘divyang’ made special provisions and facilities for their convenience.

Talking about the importance of the NHRC, Modi said that they play an important role in achieving sustainable development goals.

He added that impartial judiciary, an active media, an active civil society, and organisations such as NHRC  are the actual pillars which protect human rights.
