Recently, Twitter CEO and Co-founder Jack Dorsey met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During their meeting, both of them discussed the importance of global conversations of social media.

After the meeting of the duo, Jack Dorsey tweeted pictures clicked during their meeting and said, “Thankyou Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spending time with us. I enjoyed our discussion on the importance of global conversations. Also, thanks for the ideas for Twitter’. Modi responded him, ‘Delighted to meet you Jack. Impressed with the passion with which you are leading Twitter. I enjoy being on this medium where I have made great friends and I see creativity in people every day.”

Jack Dorsey is on his maiden trip to India. He met Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Twitter is a social media platform that is extensively used in India by a large number of politicians. The politicians engage the residents and use the platform during their election time.

The company also launched an initiative named ‘PowerOf18’ that aims to encourage Indian youth who can contribute to public debate and participate in civic engagement in the coming election season.

Jack Dorsey addressed a townhall in IIT-Delhi on Monday. Jack vowed to check the spread of fake news but he also said there is no fix solution to stop this problem. Social media platforms have been facing the rumours and fake news problem on the platforms. Organisations like Facebook and Whatsapp are taking a number of steps which includes sensitization programmes across the country.

Dorsey also said that in a number of conversations, it is discussed that it is very important that we scope with the problem because misinformation or fake news can create big issues. If any content that is found misleading the people, then it is an organisation’s job to prevent the news from spreading, he added.
