According to the officials, Prime Minister Modi is expected to announce a good news for the account holders of Jan Dhan Yojana this Independence week in order to boost addition to government’s finance.
In the PMJDY scheme, the account can be opened in any bank branch by approving any of the official government document which includes, Voter ID, Passport, Pan Card, Driving License, etc. After this a form should be filled up, signed and attested with a photo after downloading it online. The best part of the account is it can be opened with a zero balance in the account. Our sources have reported that the account holders can withdraw money even if they have zero balance in it. Also, it allows any member of the family to withdraw Rs 5000 in case of emergency.
As per recent reports 32.25 crore PMJDY accounts were opened since last four years with Rs 80,672 outstanding balance, sources said. Under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) scheme which was announced in 2015-16, will raise its limit to up to Rs 10,000 per month, depending on their contributions. Under the APY scheme, the subscribers would get a pension of Rs 1000- Rs 5000 every month at the age of 60.
As per the news sources, the overdraft facility that is given to the account holders will be doubled from Rs 5000 to Rs 10000 under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana scheme. The government may also announce a few micro insurance schemes during this occasion. The free accident cover under the following scheme may increase up to Rs 1 Lakh for the RuPay cardholders, the sources said.
Our recent sources added that Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana scheme Phase II will come to an end on Aug 15 and the scheme will be due with new improvised future goals. Regarding this, Prime Minister Modi’s speech on Independence Day will be the platform for major announcements.
The first Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was launched on Aug 2014 and Phase I ended in Aug 2015 which was then focused on opening accounts and RuPay debit cards.
