On Friday, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma organized a meeting with the officials of North East Frontier Railways (NEF) in order to hold a discussion regarding the two railway projects which have been sanctioned by the Centre in Meghalaya.
Regarding this, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma organized a meeting with the general manager of North East Frontier Railways (NEF) to discuss on the two projects Kamalachari to Byrnihat and Byrnihat to Shillong.
After the meeting, the chief minister revealed that the meeting was organized with the North East Frontier Railways officials was in order to know the details about the current status of railways projects in the state.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “As of now there were two projects sanctioned by the Centre but both of them are not proceeding now because of local concerns that are there. We would now discuss with other cabinet colleagues and political parties and take stakeholders into account and then decide how to move forward (with these projects),” Conrad K Sangma told media persons here.
Besides this, the Chief Minister also emphasized that how the development of railways in a state affects its development and what are the importance of railways for economic development of the state.
“It is something we feel will change the economic scenario in our state and is an important infrastructure which our state does require. We wanted to know if Forest department, deputy commissioners, Revenue or PHE departments are a hurdle so we review all that to ensure projects are moving fast,” Sangma said.
On the other hand, the Chief Minister also organized a meeting with MD Nagendra Nath Sinha in order to review the problems and the hurdles that the state is facing regarding the road projects that have been sanctioned in the state.
