Lana Michelle Moorer is popularly known as MC Lyte to all the rap music fans. She is attributed as one of the first female rap artists of the ’80s. Childhood and early life:
MC Lyte was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City, USA. Her singing career started when she was 16 and released her album. But she had been rapping at smaller stages since she was 12 years old. She started off her career under the stage name ‘Sparkle’ which she later changed to MC Lyte. Her album ‘Eyes on this’, released in 1989 is widely recognized and often referred to as a rap classic. She also became the first rap artist to perform at the Carnegie Hall. She even published a song in association with Boogie Down Productions, Public Enemy, and Heavy D among several other artists to demonstrate her support for hip hop artists and African-American communities suffering from acts of violence.
Personal life:
She was rumoured to be dating a Veteran and an entrepreneur by the name of John Wyche. She claimed to meet him on match.com. The couple got engaged in 2017 and following it, got married in August of 2017. It was a small ceremony held in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Three years after her marriage, in 2020 she filed for a divorce. She is currently evaluated at about $8 million.
