Christmas comes early this year for cricket fans as the BCCI recently confirmed the dates for the India Tour of Australia Series. The ongoing pandemic may have impacted the cricket calendar, but it looks like we are on track to finish the year on a solid note. Virat Kohli will be leading the contingent heading to Australia in hopes of continuing their recently-established dominance over the side.
Right off the bat, it is fair to say that a majority of the players chosen for the T20I and ODI Series were picked based on their performance in the ongoing IPL. The BCCI announced the decision just two weeks before the final of the IPL, giving them ample time to analyze.
The Test Series’s squad list differs slightly more from that of its two counterparts, and rightly so.
That said, from an online cricket betting perspective, this is a bonanza for the punters. They can now make informed, smarter bets, having just seen them perform in the Indian Premier League.
Sticking to a Winning Formula
Virat Kohli will be leading the team across all three formats against the Aussies, as he continues to be the preferred choice for captaincy. He took the team through to the wins against Australia at home, winning the 3-match series with 2-1. It is also worth noting that he batted handsomely in those two wins, scoring a total of 167 runs.
Supporting him in batting will be KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, and Shikhar Dhawan, among others. A few of these names have already proven their mettle in the IPL but to emulate a similar performance on away turf under gruelling conditions is a whole different ball game.
In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravindra Jadeja will themselves be travelling to Australia in November. Among these big names, Jadeja, and Shami have played in both – the home series and away series with Australia over the last two years.
There are a few omissions to consider – the selectors have left out Rohit Sharma and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for the series. The former picked up a hamstring injury in the ongoing league in Dubai.
Looking at their test squad, the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant find their names in the contingent once again – undoubtedly because of their superb performance in the 2018-19 tour. Pujara was the top run-scorer in that 4-match Test Series, scoring 521 runs at an average of 74.4 in 7 innings.
An Opportunity to Make a Winning?
Cricket betting enthusiasts can choose from a variety of markets, batting or bowling. Some of the most common markets to consider would be:
- A century to be scored in the match
- A half-century to be scored
- Total match sixes
- Win-draw-loss markets
- Top bowlers
- And much more…
Many of the players chosen to represent the nation in Australia have had some sort of experience against the Kangaroos. In most cases, it has been a positive one, already giving them a slight psychological advantage.
The tour starts on November 27 with a 3-match ODI series, followed by three T20s and four test games, culminating on January 19.
