Google Assistant

Google has released the lightweight version of its virtual assistant ‘Assistant Go’. The app is available for download at Google Play. The app supports a bunch of languages including English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Thai. However, the listings at Play store show only the support for English. There is no support for the Hindi language in this latest app. We are hopeful that the company will soon add more languages to this app. Here, it is also important to mention that this new app has arrived long after the arrival of Files Go, Gboard Go, Google Go, Maps Go, and YouTube Go.

Google Assistant Go has many features like original Google Assistant version. This means that you can make quick phone calls, send text messages, and play music through this app. It will also help you to navigate places, preview upcoming events, provide weather information, and ask general questions. To use this app, you have to tap and hold the home button. You can also use this app by clicking the microphone icon on Google search bar.

There are also some differences between this Google Assistant Go and regular Google Assistant. Reminders, control for smart home devices, Actions on Google, and device actions are some of the features missing in this latest app. All this is because it takes less storage and data. Google Assistant Go app is only suitable for devices with Android Oreo (Go Edition) devices. This app will also not support OK Google or Hey Google hands-free activation.

Here, it is necessary to mention that smartphone manufacturers are working on the launch of devices with Android Oreo (Go Edition).

MediaTek has also partnered with Reliance Jio to launch Android Go edition device. Companies like Micromax and HMD Global are also working on Android Go devices. This Assistant Go will only be compatible with those devices.
