Session Court in Hissar announced life-time sentence to the Self-styled godman Rampal in connection with two cases of murder. The self-made God was found guilty of murder and other offences by a court in Haryana last week.

Rampal and his 26 followers were accused of two murder cases and other offences like the wrongful confinement of people at his Satlok Ashram in Hisar.

The self-styled godman came into limelight when two people lodged cases against him for the murder of their wives inside Rampal’s ashram at Barwala village where they were kept restrained by the Baba and his followers.

The punishment of the guilty was announced in the additional sessions court, headed by judge D R Chalia, after the nearly four-year-long trial in a makeshift court inside the Hisar district jail. The 67-year-old baba and his followers have been imprisoned since November 2014.

The self-styled godman was categorised in a list of “fake babas” by the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad which is a top body of Hindu seers.

The fake baba and his followers were charged to the murder case of four women and an 18-month-old child at the former’s Stalok Ashram in Hisar’s Barwala town on November 19, 2014.

Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad had released a list of self-styled godman which included Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Radhey Maa, Nirmal Baba, Rampal, Asaram Bapu and his son Narayan Sai as “fake babas”.

The fake baba was arrested by the police from his 12-acre ashram but his arrest caused violent clashes.

The followers of self-styled fake baba were armed with stones, batons and guns to stop the arrest of the Baba.

The fake baba even used humans to shield himself from the arrest.

The fake baba was the head of a sect that worships the 15th-century poet and mystic Kabir.

Today, most of the people get trapped in the fake baba and mislead their lives. The desperation for the success and sometimes the search of peace divert them to such fake baba.
