According to a statement released by Indian Railways, the Passenger Reservation System of Delhi will be on hold from November 9 to November 10, 2018. The services will remain shut from 11:45 PM on November 9 to 1:40 AM on November 10 regarding the maintenance of the system.

With the release of the statement, the national transporter has already informed the Indian Railways passengers from Delhi especially those who are planning a railway journey soon. The statement stated that the reservation activities like internet booking and enquiry services regarding the trains on number 139 will not be available for a specific period of time from November 9 to November 10, 2018. The shutdown in the system is considered as the routine maintenance activity of Indian Railways regarding its services.

Besides the routine maintenance activity of Indian Railways, in the earlier part of the year, the official e-ticketing and catering website of Indian Railways was unavailable for a major upgradation. After finishing off with the upgradation part, the all-new IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) is now available with several new interesting features. The new website has not only made booking train tickets easier but has also provided many additional facilities to the railway passengers.

With the new website, passengers can easily check the availability of the train tickets and with the live cameras installed in the kitchens, passengers can take the benefits of the live streaming of IRCTC base kitchens on their mobile phones and laptops.

On the other hand, users can now link their Aadhaar number with the IRCTC account which will make travelling with Indian Railways more user-friendly. After linking Aadhar number with the IRCTC account, users can book more than six railway train tickets in a month. Adding more to the facilities, the national transporter has launched an artificial intelligence-enabled chatbot on its website with the name ‘Ask Disha’. The chatbot can be used to answer most of the general queries of the passengers regarding the train ticket booking, cancellation, waitlisting and refund.
