BENGALURU: The country’s biggest facility to manufacture Apple products is heard to be established in Karnataka as Taiwanese firm, Wistron Technologies has planted the root for this setup. As per a recent news, Rs 3,000 crore will be invested to come up with the biggest Apple products manufacturing unit in India.
Regarding the project, the company officials recently met Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday and also sought land at Narasapur industrial area in Kolar district. These activities by the company officials indicate that the process to establish this biggest unit has been initiated already.
Our news resources have reported that until now the company at its facility at Peenya in Bengaluru was assembling only the two models of iPhone series which are iPhone SE and iPhone 6S. But now the company is looking forward in order to assemble all the products of Apple and expand its operations in the country. In order to expand its operations the company is planning to set up facilities at Narasapur.
In a meeting that was organized between the company officials and the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, a senior executive from the company explained to the CM that this iPhone manufacturing unit which will spread in an area of about 43 acres will be the biggest project in the country up till now. The executives further added that the project will hold the capability to come up with employment opportunity for more than 10,500 people. On this, the State Revenue Minister R. V Deshpande said that in order to provide employment to locals an agreement would be signed within a week with the company.
“Wistron India head Gururaj said the company said would set up an i-phone-making unit in the 43 acres of land allotted to it, with employment potential to 10,500 people,” said the statement.
Our sources said that the CM after listening to the proposal by the company executives welcomed the idea and asked the company’s executives to submit the proposal of the project in order to seek a grant of land required for the expansion of the facility. Besides this, the CM also asked the officials to set up a mobile repair and technology facility in the area.
“Welcoming the huge investment, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy told an expert team from Wistron to submit its proposal for granting land for the company,” said the statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
