The Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) is going to announce new COVID guidelines regarding wearing masks. The organization is expected to brief the updates on Tuesday, which will primarily target fully vaccinated Americans.

According to the reports, President Joe Biden will release new “interim public health recommendations”. The administration will announce the guidelines related to the activities that the vaccinated people of the US may resume. As per the officials, these guidelines will also include recommendations related to health care settings and whether to wear masks outdoors.

However, the officials told that the language of new guidance is still being finalized. People are looking forward to Tuesday, for President Biden to make remarks on the current COVID-19 situation in the US. Reports say that the White House COVID-19 Response Team is likely to have more information about the updated guidance at its press briefing before his remarks.

The three familiar people with the expected announcement told that Biden will announce new CDC guidance on whether vaccinated people need to wear masks outdoors. According to CNN, one of Biden’s top advisers, Dr. Anthony Fauci, hinted that the guidelines would be updated this week. Though he didn’t want to reveal anything prior to the official announcement, Fauci said that the CDC “will be coming out with updating their guidelines of what people who are vaccinated can do and even some who are not vaccinated.”

However, the CDC currently advises every vaccinated US citizen to still wear a mask maintain a distance of six feet in public, or while meeting an unvaccinated person.

As per the CDC data, the number of fully vaccinated people has risen. The CDC considers people being fully vaccinated two weeks after the after the second dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccines or two weeks after the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. As the result of more and more American citizens getting vaccinated, the mask guidelines are being updated. Therefore, it is highly likely that the state is going to ease mask restrictions.
