NASA sends space missions from time to time to explore the planets in our Solar System. It had sent its Cassini Mission to explore the atmosphere of Saturn and its moons. This mission had ended on 15th September last year. The researchers were busy in mapping the Saturn’s biggest moon, the Titan. NASA has published the research in two separate parts. One part of the research focused on the sea level on Titan and the other focused on the detailed map of the moon. Here, one of the interesting things is that the research shows that the sea level on Titan is equal to the sea level on our Earth.

This means that Titan has a lot similar to Earth on its surface. The difference is that the sea on Earth has water but the sea on Titan has hydrocarbons. This also shows that Titan is the only object of our Solar System that has stable liquid on its surface. The Cassini Mission has measured the sea level to a high degree of precision. The researchers have measured Titan’s geoid. The geoid is the surface of any object under gravitational pull and rotational effects. Here, once again the shape matches with the shape on the surface of the Earth to a great extent.

Here, it is important to mention that Cassini stayed in the atmosphere of Saturn for about two decades. Thus, Titan’s unusual features received a lot of attention from Cassini. Using the data gathered by Cassini Mission, the researchers have become able to construct an upgraded topographic map of the moon. This topographic map shows that lakes exist hundred of meters above sea level. This once again makes it identical to Earth.

A close observation of the map also proves the presence of some mountains on Titanic surface. The maximum height of the mountain is not greater than 700 meters.
