On Wednesday, after a video showing a group of kanwariyas vandalizing a car in west Delhi’s Moti Nagar went viral, the event has forced Delhi police to register a case against the kanwariyas(unknown persons).

The police told media that on Tuesday around 5.30 in the evening a call landed in the Police Station saying that a Kanwariya got hit by a car near the Moti Nagar metro station and as a reaction, the car was smashed with sticks by the kanwariyas.

Immediately after the call ended, Police force left the station and arrived at the spot within 10 minutes and found the car to be smashed and overturned. However, local people said that the owner of the car and the passenger managed to escape the violent crowd. The local people also reported that a woman was driving the car and a male passenger was also sitting in the car.

Delhi Police after the investigation has mentioned that argument between the woman driver and the kanwariyas took place after one of the kanwariyas was hit by the car. Police also said that the argument reached to a level where a woman came out of the car and slapped one of the kanwariyas which raise the anger between the kanwariyas and a large group of kanwariyas gathered at the spot and started smashing the car.

Our sources have reported that in order to save the lives and any mishappenings the occupants of the car rushed into a metro station and they have even refused to give any complaint or statement regarding the case.

“We have gathered all the facts in the case and after going through accounts of eyewitnesses and CCTV footage, the investigation report has been prepared. Taking cognizance of the situation, we have registered an FIR under IPC Section 427 (causing damage to property) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint),” said Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (west).

Kumar also said that the police department is making all the possible efforts in order to identify the people who damaged the car. The team is also searching and gathering mobile clips from various sources to come up with faces of the kanwariyas and reveal their identity, Kumar added.
