BJP may soon announce an alliance partner from Tamil Nadu for 2019 Lok Sabha elections by October.
In 2014, Bhartiya Janta Party won only one seat from Lok Sabha Polls in Tamil Nadu. After the death of Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa, there had been infight between Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
On the other hand, Telugu Desam party is being pulled out of the alliance and Shiv Sena’s campaign is against the party, therefore Tamil Nadu will become an important state for BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
As per the recent sources, Tamil Nadu has the highest Lok Sabha seats (39) after four other states. Uttar Pradesh 80 seats, Maharashtra (48), West Bengal (42), and Bihar (40). It is tough for BJP to make its place in Tamil Nadu. It peaked in big states like Uttar Pradesh in 2014 where BJP won 71 seats.
One of the BJP leaders told our sources that there will be an alliance between a regional leader and BJP leader and then a formal announcement will be finally made. Also, the sources reported that BJP has been in touch with both Karunanidhi’s sons, Stalin and Alagiri. Shah is likely to attend the memorial meeting of Karunanidhi in Chennai.
Karunanidhi died this month and made Stalin (son) his successor. Stalin will be succeeding his father as DMK chief. While Shah told our reporters that DMK has invited us for a memorial meeting and we have no reason to deny it.
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) was a part of NDA government in the year 1999. But in 2003, DMK pulled out and formed an alliance with the Congress government to win all the 39 seats of Lok Sabha Elections in 2004.
In 2016, the vote share of BJP decreased in Tamil Nadu state as compared to 2014 Lok Sabha elections. BJP party has declined its position over these years in Tamil Nadu. After Jayalalithaa’s death, BJP is trying to make its party strong in Tamil Nadu, reported our sources. In 2017, there was a news that DMK and BJP were cosying up together
