On Thursday, NRC implementation has been demanded by BJP in West Bengal in order to force away illegal citizens from the state. In order to raise the voice,  BJP party in Kolkata took out a rally and road blockades were also put up by BJP leaders. BJP rally moved from south Kolkata’s Deshapriyo Park to Maidan area and many BJP leaders took part in the rally. Meanwhile BJP leaders gave a shock to the Trinamool Congress for protesting against the NRC implementation in Assam.

“Bangladeshi infiltrators are staying in West Bengal and the state government is doing nothing to drive them out. Instead, the ruling party is indulging in vote bank politics to suit its interests. We want the NRC to be implemented here to drive out Bangladeshi infiltrators. These infiltrators are a threat to national security and are involved in illegal activities”, said BJP Mahila Morcha president Locket Chatterjee

When Locket Chatterjee addressed the party workers, she also raised a question to the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee that she will have to clarify that whether she is with the people of West Bengal or with infiltrators. On this Locket Chatterjee further added that BJP party will not let West Bengal CM play with the people of the state just for grabbing the vote bank in West Bengal.

After this, State BJP president Dilip Ghosh met Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi in Raj Bhawan and appealed him to look into the demand to implement NRC in West Bengal in order to drive out the illegal citizens from the state.

As per the report, Dilip Ghosh after the meeting told that BJP party wants to pull out infiltrators from West Bengal to relieve the people of West Bengal. Ghosh further added that infiltrators in West Bengal snatched their land, employment, and food, they shouldn’t have stayed long in the state and there is need to implement NRC to attain all these things.

On this, Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee reacted to BJP comment and said outside Kolkata airport that “Who are they (BJP) and are they important? People do not know them. They are a bunch of hooligans who create riots and loot people. They are not sure about their own existence, yet they are talking about implementing NRC here. I dare them to do so,”

For the time being, it is also demanded by the BJP that  Paschimbangal should be the official name of the state instead of ‘Bangla’ that has been proposed by the state government.
