On Thursday, Union minister Arun Jaitley finally got himself back to the parliament. Its been over three months since he was away from the work as he underwent a surgery for a kidney transplant, sources said.

In the Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley is the leader of the BJP and so he is the leader of the House. Arun Jaitley regarding the post of the deputy chairman of the House took a designated seat on the front row of the upper House just ahead of the elections.

As per our news sources, a three-line whip had been issued by the party to all its MPs in the Rajya Sabha in order to vote for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominee and JD(U) leader Harivansh. This is regarding the post which has been vacant for a while after Congress MP PJ Kurian completed his term in the house.

As per the sources JD(U) leader and NDA nominee Harivansh have been elected as the new Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman after defeating UPA candidate BK Hariprasad by 20 votes. The final tally says that NDA nominee Harivansh managed to keep 125 voted by his side while on the other hand  UPA candidate BK Hariprasad ended with 105 polls in his pocket.

Our sources reported that Harivansh has been chosen as a first-time MP of the JD(U) while on the other hand, Hariprasad has remained a three-time parliamentarian of the Congress. Besides this, Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said that he wishes luck to the leader and hope Harivansh would take impartial decisions with his new role.

In absence of Mr. Jaitley, Piyush Goyal has been given the additional charge of the Finance Ministry, say sources.
