There is good news for Apple fans in India. The company has decided to cut the price of iPhone 5s to Rs. 15,000. This four years old model will now sell online at an unimaginable price. The company has taken this move to expand its share in the Indian market. This would increase Apples’ loyalty and make it stand in the competition with Samsung and many other Chinese brands.
India is one of the greatest smartphone markets after China. In the first quarter of 2017, the net sales of Apple have decreased a lot. Samsung is once again dominating the market with its medium range Galaxy J and Galaxy A series. This price cut will help Apple to remain in the competition with a medium range smartphone.
The iPhone 5s is much popular among the young peoples of India. Therefore, the company has decided to cut its price. Brick and mortar stores are already informed that the iPhone 5s will sell exclusively online at Rs. 15,000. There is also news that iPhone SE is going to be an entry phone with a price tag of Rs. 20,000. Earlier iPhone 5s was selling at Rs. 20,000. Some online retailers like Flipkart and Snapdeal were selling it with discounts at a price of Rs. 17,499.
Specs wise iPhone 5s has a 4.0-inch display with a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch. It has a resolution of 1136X640 pixels with Retina display. The contrast ratio is 800:1 and brightness 500 nits. In this phone, first time, Apple has introduced iSight back camera and FaceTime HD front snapper. The iSight camera has an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. Also, Apple had introduced Touch ID in this phone.
Apple has started the production of iPhones in India making it the 3rd country where it has manufacturing plants. Experts are also saying that this cut in price is also due to Apples’ decreasing sale in China. China once was the second largest market for iPhones after the country of its origin USA. But now, Apples’ sale in China has decreased a lot. Therefore, the company has decided to target the Indian market which is next to China.
Coming months will make the position clear whether Apple is in the competition or not. But, due to manufacturing excellence of iPhones, it can be hoped that Apple will regain its lost position in the Indian market.
