While Samsung and its fans are gearing up for the launch of the Note 8, in the meantime, Samsung is planning to launch another new smartphone this year. Recently, the device has spotted at Geekbench website. The model which was spotted at the Geekbench website is having a model number SM-G9600. This is expected to be called as Galaxy S8 Mini or Galaxy S8 Lite. But there is no official confirmation about the model name from Samsung yet. This is just an assumption.
Regarding the specification, this new device is powered by Snapdragon 840 SoC interestingly. Beside this, there is a 1.77GHz Quad-core chipset to power the device. This Snapdragon 840 SoC is still a mystery at this point, but we can assume that it might be like 820 CPU with a better GPU and modem. Also, from the Geekbench, this can be assured that this device will hold a 4GB of RAM with Android 7.1.2 version.
As of now, there is no other information available regarding the device. So, the display size, resolutions, camera or the battery performance is still a mystery. For the detailed information, the fans have to wait a bit till Samsung officially release the device. From the specifications, we can assume that it may look like Galaxy S8 but a Mini or Lite version. But please note that it’s just a speculation at this early stage.
We don’t have any official comment from Samsung regarding this device release date. But, the launch of Note 8 is expected in September. So, this might be possible that Samsung will launch these two devices together in September 2017.
Recently, a Samsung executive reported that Samsung is not working on any “Mini” version of S8. This might be true as Samsung did not launch any “Mini” versions of 2015’s Galaxy S6 and 2016’s S7. In this scenario, this might be named as Galaxy S8 Lite.
