Yogeshwar Dutt, the wrestler who made India proud in the London 2012 Olympics by winning a bronze may have his medal upgraded to silver, as Russia’s second rank holder Besik Kudukhov has been tested positive for a banned substance by the World Anti-Doping Agency. The news of medal upgrade comes as a pleasing news for the wrestler who failed to make any impact at the Rio.

Besik Kudukhov: Death followed by humiliation

An official confirmation on this regard will be made soon. Besik Kudukhov is a four-time world champion and two-time Olympic medal winner. Unfortunately, he died in a car crash on 2013, and this news of doping has set a huge wave of disappointment among his fans and well wishers.

Yogeshwar joins Sushil Kumar

Sushil Kumar was another wrestler who won a silver medal for India in London, and by this upgrade, Yogeshwar also joins his league. When ‘The Hindu‘ contacted the Wrestling Federation of India, they told that they have been informed about this decision. The Federation is waiting to make an official confirmation as they are now awaiting a written confirmation from the International Olympic Committee.

A glorious journey in London

Yogeshwar’s dream run in London was just like a cinema. He lost to Kudukhov in the pre-quarter finals of the games. But Yogeshwar, just like a phoenix bird bounced back in style in the repechage round. The young man trashed Franklin Gomez of Puerto Rico, Masoud Esmaeilpour of Iran and Ri Jong-myong of North Korea, and finally won a Bronze medal for 120 Crore people.

Let us now wait for an official confirmation from the International Olympic Committee confirming the silver medal of Dutt.
