Olympic Badminton Silver Medalist PV Sindhu will announce her first corporate endorsement soon. The Hyderabad girl’s brand value has shot up ten times to Rs. Two Crores. The shuttler’s commercial marketing is managed Baseline Ventures and director R.Ramakrishnan stated that they might announce corporate endorsements by the second week of September. The endorsements were signed before the Olympics but were not announced due to the packed schedule of the Hyderabad-based player for the event,
Baseline is a sports marketing company, and it also manages the commercial interests of another badminton player Kidambi Srikant.
Sindhu lost her Olympic final gold to the world no 1 Carolina Marin of Spain. But she became the first Indian to win a badminton silver in any Olympic. Endorsements have been pouring in since her Olympic feat. However, her marketing company wants to go slow and wait for the value to rise further.
Experts say that post-Olympics Sindhu’s value has soared to Rs.2 Crore after many state governments announced significant cash awards for her. The moment the state government awards a cash prize of Rs. Five crores, her brand value gets a bit higher. There are corporations and enterprises that may be thinking about offering money which is much larger. Therefore her brand value has risen from 20 Lakh to 30 Lakhs to Rs 2 Crore.
Gifts and accolades have been pouring for Sindhu from different state governments, and there has been an ugly incident when both AP and Telangana claimed that she came from their state. The Telangana government announced a cash gift of Rs. 5 crores and a residential plot in Hyderabad. The Public Sector undertaking BPCL announced a prize 75 Lakhs, the AAP government in Delhi offered Rs. 2 Crore and the AP government Rs. 3 Crore.
