Gj1132b

Since a long time, the scientists are looking for life sign beyond our planet. As per the report published in Astronomical Journal says that scientists have detected an atmosphere Earth-like planet which is 39 light years away.  This is the first ever noteworthy step towards the discovery of the life beyond our solar system. This planet is known as Gj1132b and 1.4 times the size of our earth.

The researcher said that this super-earth Gj1132b had got almost same mass and radius (1.6 Earth Masses and 1.4 times Earth radii). This is really very close to the earth’s specification.

They have further added that with the current analysis, we have taken the 1st tentative stride into studying the properties of such smaller planets.

To get these facts team has used GROND imager at 2.2mESO/MPG telescope of the EU southern observatory in Chile. They have used 7 diverse wavelength bands to observe this planet at once.

Further, the study says that when they imaged planet’s host star Gj1132, a minor decline in the brightness found. Its environment has absorbed some of the minor star lights while passing straight in front of their host star.

The report says that Gj1132b is transiting planet of the system. This means that from the observer’s point of view on the earth, it passes straight in front of its every 1.6 days. This blocks the minor light of the star.

Stellar model is capable of getting the size of starts like Gj1132. Astronomers can get the planets’ size by knowing the fraction of light blocked by the planet. This time, in this case, they have found around 1.4 times the size of our planet.

However few new observations proved the planet to be larger at one of the infrared light than at the others.

This concludes that the existence of an atmosphere that is blurred to this specific infrared wavelength. This makes the planet appear larger than others.

Further, the team has simulated all possible versions of atmosphere in order to find more facts.

As per those models, an atmosphere with adequate in water and methane would explain these facts very well.  As per the scientist, there is a huge possibility of water world with the hot steam environment.

The team said that this planet had provided a hope of an environment that has endured for many years. Such favorable conditions on these number of M dwarf stars really give a hint that life is quite common in the universe.
