Scientists all across the world are trying to solve the mystery of how the life began on the Earth. An Australian National University research team has now published research about the start of complex life on Earth. They have conducted experiments on Sedimentary rocks found in Australia. Sedimentary rocks are the oldest kinds of rocks. Their research says that about 650 million years ago, the complex life began to settle on the Earth. The research also makes it clear that Algae are the base of life on the Earth.

The research team leader says that they have crushed the rocks to powder form. Different experiments on this rocks powder show that there are fossils of nutrients in it. They relate it with ‘Snow Ball Earth’. After 50 millions of this snowball event, it happened. Scientists all across the world agree to the snowball Earth event. They say that about 700 to 750 million years ago, snow covered the entire surface of the Earth and huge mountain ranges grounded to powder. This powder was full of nutrients.

The extreme global heating event melted those glaciers and those nutrients reached oceans. After the Earth cooled down to a hospitable temperature, the life began to flourish in the form of Algae. This was the first change from simple to complex life. Earlier, the oceans were rich with bacteria. But, all these happenings changed this domination and the first complex animal appeared on the Earth in the form of Algae.

These complex animals at the base of food web helped in the evolution of ecosystems and beginning of complex life on Earth. Another researcher of the ANU team says that they have found striking signals of molecular fossils from these rocks. She also explained that after finding these molecular fossils, we understood that we had made a groundbreaking discovery.
