The heart diseases are becoming common all across the globe. The real reason behind this disease is still unknown. Now, the researchers have pointed out that there is a strong relation between salt intake and heart diseases. The researchers have conducted the research in Finland, Europe. They have come to the point that a person who eats more salty foods has more chances of heart failure. They have proved that increased salt intake increases the blood pressure which is the main reason of heart failure.

The researchers have studied 4630 people from 1979 to 2002. These were of the ages between 25 and 64 years. These people were given randomly salty foods. As the salt intake is difficult to judge, the researchers used the gold standard test. The results of this test clarified that the persons eating more salt suffered from various coronary diseases. The researchers followed up those persons for 12 years and have come to the conclusion that more salt intake causes heart failure.

They have published in their report that the persons eating more than 13.7 grams of salt daily have double chances of heart failure than the persons eating less than 6.8 grams of salt. They have cleared all the misconceptions by saying that the heart does not like salt. This is because the salt has a relation with blood pressure.

The physiological need of the human beings is 2-3 grams of salt daily. The World Health Organization also recommends 5 grams intake of salt as ideal for health. The team is now stressing the people to decrease the salt intake to avoid heart diseases.

Most people across the world eat 80-140 percent more salt than recommended by WHO. There is also another group of researchers who say that human beings should eat more than 6 grams a day. This is a little higher than the recommendations of World Health Organization.
