Trinamool Congress and their ally political parties cry foul in both Houses of Parliament for the deployment of Army at toll plazas ‘in various parts’ of West Bengal. The chief minister of WB, Ms. Mamta Banerjee expressed shock over Army deployment as it was “clear violation of the Constitution” and a bid to “create a civil war like situation in the country.”
However, defense minister of India Mr. Manohar Parrikar clarifies in the parliament that such kind of issue is a routine exercise and it is nothing but a political frustration. He also reiterates that there is no need to politicize such issues.
The TMC Supremo Ms. Mamta Banerjee spent last night at Nabanna, the state secretariat, protesting against the presence of Army personnel at the toll plaza. She protested over the presence of Army outside Nabanna. She also said “I am staying here to safeguard the democracy.”
The WB Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee also cried foul over the incident of Wednesday night, the aircraft carrying her was made to hover over Kolkata despite being low on fuel. However airline major Indigo clarified that the air traffic controller “misunderstood” that the plane was low on fuel after the pilot radioed that the aircraft had eight minutes of extra holding fuel over Kolkata. Despite the clarification by Indigo, TMC supporters were not satisfied.
The leader of the party Sudip Bandhopadhyay stated that such kind of incident was very serious. The central government is continuously harassing his leader and her life is in great danger. He doubted that such kind of incident has been plotted against his leader. He wanted the clarification from the Defense Minister on army deployment in Bengal. “We will raise this again in again in both the houses.” He also doubted that some kind of emergency is going to be proclaimed in the state.
