An Indian citizen by the name of Kulbhushan Jadhav has been sentenced to death by the Pakistan Army. Pakistan says that they arrested that person for spying. Jadhav is an ex-Indian Navy officer, who was detained in March 2016. India claims that Pakistan kidnapped Jadhav in Iran. Kulbhushan Jadhav belongs to Sangli, Maharashtra, this information found in his passport.

Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations called Jadhav a Research and Analysis Wing Agent. He was arrested in a Counter Intelligence Operation in Mashkel, Balochistan. They accused him of an attempt to damage $46-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Pakistan has blamed India for this same thing several times, but New Delhi always dismissed the allegations.

The statement read “RAW agent Commander Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav was tried BY FGCM under section 59 of Pakistan Army Act (PAA) 1952) and Section 3 of official Secret Act of 1923. FGCM found Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav guilty of all the charges.”

Congress asked the government to bring back Jadhav after hearing the news. Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari said Kangaroo Proceedings sentenced Kulbhushan Jadhav to death in Pakistan and no one is aware of. The government of India should get him back, he tweeted.

Minister of Defence Subhash Bhamre did not comment on this. VK Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs also decided to remain quiet.

Pakistan released a video of Jadhav.  In that video, Jadhav allegedly confesses about his involvement in terror activities in Balochistan on behalf of his country. In the video, he says he came to Iran in 2003 and was doing a small business in Chahbahar.

The video does not provide enough proof. India has issued six unsuccessful note verbales to Pakistan since 2016, to get through Jadhav. Pakistan says Jadhav is a commander rank officer in Indian Navy. India rejects this saying Jadhav is a retired 2002 Navy recruit and a businessman.
